Worcester, NY, December 15, 2011 --(PR.com
)-- Frank Popolizio, the owner and operator of South Side Dogs, teamed up with a local pet food distributor to help those less fortunate in Upstate New York during the holiday season.
Many local communities in the region have been affected by downturns in the local economy, prompting Popolizio to organize a donation of almost 4,000 pounds of assorted pet foods and other supplies to help struggling residents cope with loss of income and other hardships that may impact their ability to care for their pets.
Many families and their pets have been displaced because of job loss or foreclosure on homes, and local animal shelters are stepping up to help struggling residents by offering food and supplies to help people maintain proper care of their pets. With help from Popolizio and the staff at South Side Dogs, area residents from Schoharie County down to the Catskill Region, have been able to provide proper care to their pets, without having to resort to turning them over to already over crowded local animal shelters.
