Horizon Dayton Elementary Students Scientifically Soar

Dayton, OH, December 17, 2011 --(PR.com)-- On December 14th, 2011, Horizon Science Academy Dayton Elementary School, managed by Concept Schools, hosted their Seventh Annual Science Fair at the school located at 545 Odlin Avenue, Dayton, OH, 45405. Students showed their scientific skills at a public viewing of their science fair projects. The science fair, coordinated by the school's sixth grade English and science teacher Andrew Glenn, was a preliminary event to determine winners who will advance to a second phase science fair competition that will be held in Cleveland on March 3rd, 2012. Students who scored highest will compete against other high scoring Concept Schools’ students.

The students’ projects were judged by area professionals; Robyn Sweet and Robin Ramsey from Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, Captain Erik Wilson of the Trotwood Police Department, Linda Viverette, Gregory Boughton, Captain Phillip O’Connell, and Captain Bryan Willingham from Wright-Patt Airforce Base, Dr. Madelyn Harvey, Adjunct Professor at Wilberforce University, Colleen Smith from Samaritan Behavioral Health Center, and Marcella Ashe, owner and operator of Allecram Publishing.

The winners of this year’s H.S.A.D.E. Science Fair are: Derek Gonzalez-Aguilar, Tommy Tyler, Mya Cox, Makayla King, Rakaya Dabney, and Chase Fisher from kindergarten through second grade, while third through sixth grade winners include; Isaiah Haselwood, A’reona Weaver, Jacob Dorsey, Tianna Jones, Asante` Anderson, Ryan Rogers, Makhyla Eppinger, Camrie James, and Isaiah Cox.

Mr. Ali Kuran, the Director of H.S.A.D.E., thanks all of the judges, parents, students, and members of the community for their support of this year’s H.S.A.D.E. Science Fair. Mr. Kuran welcomes the public to visit the school to learn more about Horizon Science Academy Dayton Elementary.
