Pelephone Completes Roll-Out of Intucell's SON Solution

Intucell’s automatic management system boosts performance of Israel’s fastest mobile network, towards turning it into a fully automatic system.

Ra'anana, Israel, December 20, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Israeli mobile operator Pelephone is completing its deployment of Intucell’s dynamic SON (Self Optimizing Network) solution, towards turning its network management into a fully automatic system.

Intucell’s solution constantly monitors Pelephone’s UMTS network and makes numerous automatic adjustments that optimize performance for any condition. It reduces drop call rates and improves network balance, thus enhancing the voice and data quality of experience for Pelephone customers. In many occasions, Intucell’s SON technology detects and fixes potential network failures even before customers notice them. Intucell’s system already covers most parts of Israel and full national coverage is expected by the end of 2011.

“Pelephone is strategically committed to remain Israel’s fastest network for mobile broadband. Intucell’s system helps us reach this goal by ensuring load balance and very low drop calls rate,” said Eitan Mager, Pelephone's Director of Technology and Radio Engineering. “We have been trying the system for a while, and performance improved in every area it covers. On top of that, Intucell’s Self Organizing Network module enables us to add new sites faster and expand existing sites smoothly as demand increases. Inucell's solution is optimal to ensure fast reaction to the dynamics of the modern cellular demand.”

Pelephone is among a growing number of operators worldwide that turn to automatic network management in order to handle the capacity crunch. Advanced operators, serving a rising number of smartphone and mobile broadband customers, are pressed not only to answer a massive surge in demand but also increasingly unpredictable patterns of usage. Demand for network capacity can spike in minutes, any time and anywhere. Manual network management, which is performed by engineers in cycles of days and weeks, cannot answer such a dynamic demand.

“The capacity crunch is real and it requires solutions that challenge the existing paradigms,” commented Intucell’s CEO, Rani Wellingstein. “Our dynamic SON is such a solution. It is the most advanced automatic network management technology in the market and we are delighted that Pelephone has extended its deployment to cover its entire network.”
