Colorado BioScience Association Features Replidyne, iBalance Medical, BioWest 2005 and the Recent Bioscience Forum in the Fall 2005 Edition of The CBSA FOCUS

Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) has published the third issue of its quarterly newsletter, “The CBSA FOCUS.” Featured articles in the Fall 2005 publication cover BioWest 2005, Coming Events, Executive Report, iBalance Medical, Regulatory Update, Replidyne, Bioscience Forum, and News Briefs. The newsletter helps further share the many success stories and highlights of Colorado’s medical device and biotechnology industries.

Denver, CO, October 28, 2005 --(PR.com)-- The third issue of “The CBSA FOCUS,” the Colorado BioScience Association’s quarterly newsletter is now published. The announcement is made by Denise Brown, CBSA executive director, who says the Association’s current newsletter features articles on both Replidyne and iBalance Medical – Colorado biotech companies that have both recently announced major funding achievements. Replidyne closed one of Colorado’s largest 2005 private financing deals in September for more than $62 million in newly secured funding. iBalance Medical recently closed on an initial $4.8 million of an $8.24 million commitment in first-round venture financing. 

In addition, the Fall FOCUS previews BioWest 2005 and recaps the successful Bioscience Forum attended by close to 300 in August. “iBalance Medical: Aligning Itself For Success” -- Founded in 2004 by a Massachusetts transplant, Boulder start-up iBalance Medical recently closed on an initial $4.8 million of an $8.24 million commitment in first-round venture financing. The company is now ready to move into high gear on its new surgical product and procedure for knee reconstruction that focuses uniquely on treating malalignment of the joint, delaying or eliminating the need for total knee replacement surgery for many patients. “BioWest 2005” -- On November 8 and 9, Colorado will highlight its status as the center of the Rocky Mountain region's bioscience industry as hundreds of professionals converge at the Denver Convention Center for the BioWest 2005 conference. The only event of its kind in the region, it is expected to bring together 700 medical device and biotech players from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. “Leaders Convene to Support Colorado Bioscience Industry” -- On August 9, nearly 300 people attended an educational event hosted by the Colorado BioScience Association (CBSA) and the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) to learn about the bioscience industry in Colorado. The forum, held at the Fitzsimons research complex, brought together federal and state lawmakers, leading life science executives, university officials, patient group representatives and news media.
