MediPurpose Adds Austria's Vitalogic in Key POC Diagnostic Partnership

SurgiLance Safety Lancets to be Used in Type 2 Diabetes Screening

Vienna, Austria, December 23, 2011 --(PR.com)-- MediPurpose(r), a master distributor and manufacturer of medical products, today announced its newest partnership in the expanded application of the SurgiLance(r) safety lancet within the point-of-care (POC) industry segment.

MediPurpose has finalized an agreement with Vitalogic GmbH of Austria to supply SurgiLance safety lancets for use in a blood spot test used to screen for Type 2 diabetes. Vitalogic uses these results to specially tailor their nutritional supplement Vita Tonic, which assists Type 2 diabetics with better management of blood sugar levels.

This alliance represents one of several new point-of-care relationships that MediPurpose has planned for SurgiLance within the POC industry segment. MediPurpose President and CSO Randy Prather is enthusiastic about the new relationship with Vitalogic and recognizes its significance to the diabetic community.

"The unfortunate explosion of Type 2 diabetes worldwide is well documented," said Prather. "Our new point-of-care diagnostic partner Vitalogic utilizes amino acid supplements in the treatment of this disease state. We are pleased to add Austria's Vitalogic to our rapidly growing diagnostic partnerships worldwide."

Vitalogic founder, Prof. Dr. Jüergen Spona, has been involved in amino acid research for 15 years and is a leading expert in his field. His research indicates that deficiencies in amino acids can result in a number of adverse symptom presentations, including difficulties in maintaining normal blood sugars. Prof. Dr. Spona is pleased with his company's association with MediPurpose and the SurgiLance safety lancet.

"I greatly appreciate the great and friendly service provided by Mr. Randy Prather of MediPurpose," said Prof. Dr. Spona. "He helped us to get started fast with our fingertip blood sampling procedure for our tailored amino acid program. I was really impressed by the fast response on reordering the lancets," said Spona.

SurgiLance safety lancets remains one of the top selling fingerstick devices in the United States and is available to healthcare professionals through a broad network of distributors, both in the United States and globally.

SurgiLance is currently available in six models, ranging from 18-26 gauges and 1.0-2.3 mm penetration depths.
