West Palm Beach, FL, January 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Colonel Joe Bradshaw is nominated for the Claude Pepper Government Lawyer Award; an award presented by The Florida Bar – Government Lawyer Section. The Claude Pepper Government Lawyer Award recognizes an outstanding lawyer who has made an extraordinary and exemplary contribution as a practicing government lawyer. The award is named in honor of the Honorable Claude Pepper, a Florida attorney, United States Senator, and United States Congressman, who was an advocate on behalf of the people, and who represented the highest ideals of government service through twelve presidential administrations. A nominee must be a member of The Florida Bar in good standing and currently a practicing government lawyer, who has provided legal services at least ten (10) years in full-time government employment. The nominee should exemplify the highest ideals of dedication, professionalism, and ethics in service to the public.

Colonel Joe Bradshaw has over 26 years’ experience as a Deputy Sheriff with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and is a former New York City Assistant District Attorney. He holds a Juris Doctor from Pace University School of Law in New York and a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University.

Colonel Bradshaw graduated in 1976 from Florida Atlantic University, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Upon graduation, he began his law enforcement career as a road patrol officer and later as a detective with the Wilton Manors Police Department in Broward County, Florida until 1980, when he became a full-time law student at Pace University School of Law in New York. He received his Juris Doctor Degree in 1983. Subsequent to graduation from law school, he served as an Assistant District Attorney in New York City, spending a majority of his time prosecuting child abuse cases in Brooklyn.

Colonel Bradshaw began his career with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as a road patrol deputy working out of District One on January 1, 1986. He was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1987. He has served as the Legal Advisor for the Sheriff’s Office for most of his career. In 1996, he was appointed Undersheriff, where he was second in command under former Sheriff Charles McCutcheon. Colonel Bradshaw was President of the Florida Association of Police Attorneys from 1994 through 1997 and was sworn in as a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar in 2005.
