Career Development Takes Front Row Seat at the Los Angeles Post Production Group Meetings in 2012

The Los Angeles Post Production Group announces upcoming events designed to help foster, prepare and support member's career goals in the year ahead.

Los Angeles, CA, January 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- As the New Year is a time for reflection, taking stock and defining fresh goals, the Los Angeles Post Production Group (LAPPG) is continuing their mandate to educate their membership by packing the first quarter of 2012 with meetings designed to help members expand their skills, become more marketable, better prepared and more inspired to take the next steps for career success.

“Our organization is made of working professionals who need to stay on top of the ever changing digital landscape. Now more than ever having a range of skills is essential in post production work and we are responding with meetings in 2012 to educate members to broaden their skill sets and help expand their careers and their professional potential,” explains LAPPG founder Woody Woodhall.

The January 11th LAPPG meeting will feature two dynamic presentations on color correcting & composition with Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve and The Foundary’s Nuke.

Now with the recent release of Resolve Lite, a free, reduced feature version with unlimited color correction nodes, this meeting is the perfect opportunity for post professionals to learn more about the world's highest performance color correction solution.

Hollywood-DI Managing Director Neil Smith and colorist Andrew Balis will demonstrate key features of Resolve while integrating with Avid’s recently announced Media Composer 6. Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve has been used to color grade and finish hundreds of projects including box office hits such as "Avatar," "Robin Hood," "Quantum of Solace," "Transformers," “Alice in Wonderland” and “The Fighter.”

Plus, Steve Wright, a 20 year VFX compositing veteran turned master trainer, will lift the hood of Nuke, the de facto leader in visual effects compositing, to reveal the unique features that have made it different from similar programs. This presentation is designed for all film and video post production professionals, who want to step up and expand their knowledge and marketability.

The February 8th meeting will be a mini-career building workshop with entertainment industry career coach Shawn Tolleson. This presentation entitled, “Creating Your Career Breakthrough,” is designed to identify and strategize how to take your professional life to the next level.

Also on hand in February will be the sound experts from Minnetonka Audio Software who will be presenting on the new CALM Act requirements for audio delivery with a discussion of Loudness Measurement and Adjustment for the Automated, File-Based Environment. This will be a rare chance to better understand the new US rules for audio levels and measurements – a must for any post production individual.

Finally at their March 14th meeting, John Rosenberg, author of the book, The Healthy Edit will be sharing his knowledge and insight into how to properly apply first aid when things go wrong during editing with a fascinating presentation called, “Triage in the Editing Room.”

“We want to prepare our members for the full expanse of post production solutions and offer them the tools to troubleshoot when problems do inevitably arise. 2012 is going to offer amazing advancements in post tools and our goal is to educate our community for success in the post production arena,” said Woodhall.

Meetings are $5.00 and are held at the Showbiz Store & Café and membership to the Los Angeles Post Production Group is free by submitting an email to membership (at) lappg.com. Meetings are held the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the Showbiz Store & Café in Los Angeles.
