)-- CF Modern is the latest collaboration of longtime friends and business partners Irwin Feld and Steve Cassler. Housed in a lofty 5000 square foot Gallery located in Stamford’s Arts & Antiques District, CF Modern, a collection of custom furniture that echoes mid century design, debuts with a select group of informal seating consisting of benches and ottomans.
“The significance of benches and ottomans as a classification in our business is undeniable,” says Feld, Creative Director of Irwin Feld Design. Over the past few years Feld and Cassler, principal of Mid Century Antiques, have curated a sizeable inventory of vintage frames and have sold them to premier retailers including Elie Tahari, J. Crew and Barney’s, but the demand for multiples has been so substantial that “we felt the need to design a series of new benches and ottomans ideally suited for hotel and retail venues. “That demand is specifically what spurred the creation of CF Modern,” says Feld.
“We are fortunate because our location allows us to work with fine craftspeople who can provide both our residential and commercial clients with new, exciting and modern American-made furniture,” says Cassler.
CF Modern’s premier seating collection pays homage to Feld and Cassler’s Mid Century roots, featuring bold sculpted lines and polished metal accents; a hallmark of their vintage designs. The collection, aptly named CF for Cassler and Feld, references the influence of Mid Century masters like Gio Ponti, Vladmir Kagan and Edward Wormley. Whether used singly or in pairs, every piece in the collection is extremely customizable; offered COM and COL in a variety of solid woods, sizes, and finishes. And while the debut collection is selective seating, there are plans for other classifications in the near future. Blending experience, design aesthetics, and a rich history in home design, CF Modern sets the bar for custom design in the 21st Century.
