Company Wins Tekne Award with Help of Great Blue Consulting

Apex Print Technologies, a paper and electronic statement processing company with offices across the United States, sought out Great Blue Consulting to improve consistency in service and quality, gain visibility into their technology and data processes, reduce overall costs and maximize efficiency. Great Blue Consulting met all of APEX’s needs and ultimately played a significant role in APEX receiving the 2011 Tekne Award for “Technology Services – Small & Growing Company.”

The Tekne Award, which is awarded to companies that show innovation and positive impact on Minnesota’s technology based economy, has been given to local companies since 2000. With the help of Great Blue Consulting, APEX received the 2011 award for their contribution to the statement processing industry.

Before engaging Great Blue Consulting, APEX found that their existing service providers were doing the job, but the results were uneven, quality was inconsistent, and there was no visibility into the process. APEX President, Patrick Maurer commented that Great Blue Consulting was instrumental in the changes behind the scenes.

Mike Holtz, owner of Great Blue Consulting, noticed the great opportunity at APEX: “I knew this was something they could do in house, with their own staff.” He worked with their IT provider to assess current and future technology needs. He worked with the sales team and project managers to make the entire process more efficient, and designed and built a custom mapping system that would work on APEX’s servers, giving them visibility and full control over the entire process.

It was because of the tools and workflow put in place by Great Blue Consulting that APEX could quickly transition their existing customers to their new software platform. Freed from monthly contracts with their service providers, the new system was paid for in one year, and starting in year two, annual savings started at $200,000, increasing with each new customer.
