Enable America and Tampa Bay Lightning Team Up to Honor Disabled Veterans and Wounded Warriors

Enable America, a nonprofit organization devoted to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, is partnering with the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation to honor disabled American veterans and wounded warriors.

Tampa, FL, February 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Enable America, a nonprofit organization devoted to improving employment opportunities for people with disabilities, is partnering with the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation to honor disabled American veterans and wounded warriors.

One representative each from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps, will be recognized and hosted in a series of events at an upcoming Lightning home game. The program, titled Enable America Wounded Warrior Fans of the Game, is designed to highlight awareness of the needs of disabled veterans and wounded warriors, while also paying tribute to the sacrifices made by members of the U.S. Armed Services.

“In addition to disabled veterans from previous wars, we increasingly find more service-disabled veterans returning from tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said Richard Salem, founder and CEO of Enable America. “Now, not only can we provide disabled veterans with disability and civilian employment resources, but with our new community partnership with the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation, we can also offer them a once in a lifetime opportunity to go behind the scenes with their favorite NHL team.”

In announcing the community partnership, Enable America and the Tampa Bay Lightning Foundation recognize the importance of honoring those who have sacrificed for our country. The two organizations will do so through a contest in which disabled veterans and wounded warriors can apply to represent their branch of the military at the Lightning home game Saturday March 24, 2012, against the New York Islanders. Winners will also be invited to attend the Lightning’s morning practice on game day.

“The Lightning Foundation is committed to supporting all sorts of wonderful causes in the Tampa Bay community, including the support of service-disabled veterans,” stated Heidi Hamlin, Lightning Foundation Coordinator. “We are delighted to partner with a community organization such as Enable America to enable our veterans to enjoy a top-notch Lightning game experience.”

The contest opens this week, and will continue through February 29, 2012, for all disabled veterans and wounded warriors across the country, as permitted by law. Winners will be chosen from eligible applicants by an executive committee. Each winner and a guest will receive round-trip tickets via Southwest Airlines if traveling to the game from outside the Tampa area.

Enable America was founded by Salem in 2002, and will celebrate its ten-year anniversary this March.

The nonprofit is dedicated to helping people with disabilities find employment and live independently. Enable America’s Community Connections, Business Connections, Career Mentoring Days, and VetConnect programs unite members of the disability community and business community to raise awareness and increase employment opportunities for the 54 million Americans with disabilities.
