Obstetric Medicine Specialist Joins Women & Infants' Staff

Providence, RI, February 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Obstetric medicine specialist Kenneth Chen, MD, of Newton, MA, has joined the staff of Women & Infants Hospital as director of the Division of Obstetric and Consultative Medicine and has been appointed as assistant professor of medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He will see patients at the Women & Infants’ Center for Women’s Medicine and at the hospital’s Integrated Program for High-Risk Pregnancy in Providence.

Dr. Chen received a MBBS degree, the equivalent of a MD degree, at the University of Sydney in Australia after which he completed a residency in internal medicine at Westmead Hospital, University of Sydney. He then completed dual fellowships in endocrinology at The Prince of Wales Hospital, University of New South Wales, Sydney, and in obstetric and consultative medicine at Women & Infants Hospital, Brown University. He served as a full-time staff specialist and conjoint lecturer in endocrinology and obstetric medicine at The Prince of Wales Hospital and Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney from January 2010 to December 2011.

Dr. Chen’s primary interests include medical disorders in pregnancy with a special expertise in diabetes, obesity and endocrine disorders in pregnancy. He also has special interests in the use of insulin pumps in pregnancy; polycystic ovarian syndrome and endocrine causes of infertility; and pre-conception counseling for women with chronic medical conditions.
