Holyoke, MA, February 02, 2012 --(PR.com
)-- The Department of Transportation and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) established new corporate average fuel economy standards for vehicle model years 2012 to 2016. The new standards are set at a combined 29.7 mpg for the 2012 model year, increasing to 34.1 mpg by 2016. Achieving these standards will require many changes to the vehicles we drive. One area of focus is to reduce the weight of vehicles without compromising occupant safety. A spare tire, related tools and a jack can weigh more than 40 pounds. Hence, 13% of all new vehicles sold in the first half of 2011 did not include a spare tire.
However, there are seven tire punctures every second in the United States, totaling 220 million flat tires each year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported that 9 percent of passenger cars on U.S. roadways are driven with at least one bald tire, and that many gas stations fail to provide air pumps or accurate tire pressure gauges. Driving on bald or substantially under-inflated tires greatly increases the risk of injuries and fatalities.
A flat tire can happen at any time in any weather. The time to prepare for an emergency is before it ever occurs. Gary Rome Auto Group has got you covered. You can now order a custom designed spare tire kit using genuine Hyundai parts. Each kit is professionally mounted and balanced by an ASE Certified Technician.
The kits may include:
· Hankook or Kumho Spare Tire (depending on the model)
· 14" (Accent) or 15" (Elantra and Veloster) Compact Steel Wheel
· Scissor Jack
· Jack Bag
· Jack Bar
· Tool Bag
· Lug Wrench
· Eye Bolt
· Hold Down Screw

· Tire Pressure Label
Please be aware that the spare tire may set off your TPMS and/or ESC system. There is no sensor in the wheel for the TPMS system. The ESC system may not work as designed due to the difference in tire size. We recommend turning your ESC system off (if possible) while using the spare. The tire should not to be used as a replacement wheel; it is intended to be used for emergencies only. The tire may not come pre-inflated, so be sure to set the pressure before installation. It is recommended to check tire pressure at every tire rotation. This tire may be substituted for another name brand based on availability. As indicated above, the added weight of this kit may affect EPA stated gas mileage claims.
