Roadrunner II Receives WaterSense Certification: Exceeds Standard While Maximizing Comfort

Saving water and energy doesn't have to mean taking a wimpy shower; ShowerStart's Roadrunner II showerhead outperforms the WaterSense pressure test by 186%.

Scottsdale, AZ, February 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- "Don’t touch my shower!" That’s how most people feel when they’re asked to consider using a low flow showerhead. After all, who wants to start their day with a wimpy feeling shower? No one.

Recognizing this reality, the folks at ShowerStart created the best performing eco-friendly showerhead available. Not only does it save thousands of gallons of water per year as well as the energy used to heat the water, but it also delivers a great feeling spray.

The results are in and ShowerStart’s Roadrunner II showerhead beat the EPA’s WaterSense standard in all categories. However, its biggest victory came in the water pressure test. “The WaterSense standard allows a showerhead’s flow rate to drop by as much as 40% when measured over a pressure range of 80 – 20 psi,” explains ShowerStart’s VP of Sales and Marketing, Troy Sherman. “With a variance of only 14% the Roadrunner II beat the WaterSense benchmark by nearly 200%. By installing a Roadrunner II users receive a great feeling shower even if their home has low water pressure.”

In addition to its superior pressure performance, the Roadrunner II boasts the added benefit of ShowerStart Technology. If you tend to do other things while waiting for your shower to become warm this technology is for you.

“We’ve done study after study and consistently found the same thing: More than 75 percent of us turn on the shower, then step away while waiting for the water to get hot,” says Sherman, “That seemed like an awful lot of unnecessarily wasted water. So we decided to do something about it.”

What Sherman and the ShowerStart team did was invent the now patented, ShowerStart Technology, which utilizes a temperature sensing actuator to enable the Roadrunner II to also prevent hot water from running down the drain when no one is in the shower.

“We don’t believe you have to give up quality just because you’re concerned about the environment,” Sherman concludes. “As you’ve seen, our Roadrunner II outperforms other showerheads on the market, but it also does what no other can do: Save the hot water that’s typically wasted before you get in.”

So how, exactly, does the Roadrunner II’s ShowerStart Technology work? Turn it on like you would any other showerhead and then continue your typical routine while waiting for the shower to warm. While you’re multitasking (brushing teeth, using washroom, making bed...), inside the showerhead a valve filled with a special wax is monitoring the water’s warmth. As it heats, the wax inside the valve melts and continues to expand, until it triggers the showerhead to enter its specialized water-and-energy-saving trickle mode.

When you hear the water trickle, you know it’s reached 95 degrees – your shower’s ready. Take your time to finish up what you’re doing—the water isn’t going anywhere. Then pull the cord that flips the valve back open, step in and enjoy your perfectly hot shower.

With the Roadrunner II users save the hot water and energy that’s wasted both before and during their showers – all without sacrificing comfort, pressure or style.
