Buric Serving as Consultant on Three High-Profile Cleveland Projects

$650 million worth of greenfield and renovation projects include new medical convention center.

Cleveland, OH, February 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Buric is serving as a consultant on $650 million worth of high-profile construction projects in downtown Cleveland, including one that will heighten the city’s appeal as an international conference destination.

The projects include the Cleveland Medical Mart & Convention Center (Cleveland MMCC), the Westin Cleveland Convention Center, and the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building:

Cleveland MMCC. Designed to bring buyers and sellers together, the 550,000-square-foot, multi-story Cleveland MMCC will be the world’s only commercial facility targeted specifically to the medical and health-care industries. The $465-million center will include permanent showrooms, a Class A exhibition hall, and state-of-the-art conference facilities tailored to the needs of the medical marketplace. Buric has been contracted by the construction manager to assist with the development and maintenance of a master schedule. The facility is scheduled to complete August 2013.

Westin Cleveland Convention Center. Buric has been contracted to serve as the owner’s representative on this $64-million, four-star Westin property positioned to become the primary hotel serving the Cleveland MMCC. It also will be Cleveland’s second-largest hotel. The scope of work includes a complete interior renovation of public areas, conference spaces and 482 guestrooms. Buric will maintain an on-site office to facilitate team communications, mitigate owner risks, and monitor the project schedule, budget and quality.

The Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building. Buric has been contracted to review and analyze the construction manager’s project schedule for the installation of a new external glass façade covering the outside of this 32-story tower built in 1967. This represents the first time a high-rise building in the United States will be wrapped with a new glass façade that leaves the original façade intact. The resulting 2.5-foot gap will create an insulating cushion of air that will improve energy efficiency and deliver significant cost savings. The $121-million project is scheduled to complete in November 2014.
