Around the Town Heating and Cooling Helps Homeowners with the New Minimum Efficiency Guidelines

Crestwood, IL, February 13, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Most homeowner do not realize that the Department Of Energy has passed a new law concerning the efficiency ratings of new furnaces. Many mid rise and high rise condominium and apartment homeowners and even single family homeowners have no idea that as of May 1, 2013, 80% efficient furnaces will no longer be available in the Northern United States according to the New Minimum Efficiency Guidelines.

While this will affect single family homeowners, this law will have a major effect on mid rise and high rise condominium and apartments owners that have individual furnaces as their source of heating. The problem lies with the new minimum 90% efficient furnaces venting. In a mid rise or highrise building that has multiple units with furnaces, the new 90% furnaces will have PVC piping for venting. Many of these high rise condos and apartments have open ceilings with spiral ducting and there will be no place to run the PVC piping that needs to be done with 90% efficient furnaces and have it look good.

The solution? Most furnaces will last 12-15 years, so now is the time to purchase a 80% efficient furnace. By taking advantage of buying a furnace now, homeowners will not have to worry about the venting issue the 90% efficient furnaces cause. By the time you would need a another new furnace, the Department of Energy and HVAC Contractor will have figured out this piping issue. An 80% efficient furnace will cost less and still have the benefits of a more efficient furnace than older furnaces found in most homes. Around the Town Heating & Cooling has several different furnaces in both the 80% efficient and 90% efficient category. Plus, all homeowners have the opportunity to print a coupon from Around The Town site that takes off $100 all furnace and boiler installations.
