Top Black Officials, Dignitaries & Special Guest to Appear in Atlanta for Black History Month Parade

Atlanta, GA, February 11, 2012 --(PR.com)-- With less than three weeks left in Black History Month the top black officials, dignitaries and businesses are making plans to attend the Black History Month Parade in Atlanta. “It is a way to celebrate our history, our heritage and our culture and a way to come together as a people in unity, with no strings attached,” says Earl Little, founder of the Black History Month Parade.

The Black History Month Parade presents a perfect marketing opportunity for many companies that support the African-American demographic. With a market that has an estimated $1 trillion in buying power, (Selig Center for Economic Growth), a major special event to celebrate African-American history seems long overdue. “We are asking all companies to participate in this magnificent event and show their support for the market that supports their brands, which ultimately will allow us to build a larger parade, one which will inspire, while providing positive entertainment for the people in the community,” says Carlos Coleman, executive director of the Black History Month Parade.

The Black History Month Parade is planned to celebrate the culture, history and accomplishments of Black-Americans in the United States and from across the globe. The Black History Month Parade is scheduled to take place in Atlanta’s historic MLK/ Sweet Auburn District home of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the National SCLC headquarters, The Martin Luther King National Historic Site, Rainbow Push, Prince Hall Masons, 100 Black Men National headquarters and many other historic sites and businesses.

The Sweet Auburn District is a National Historic Landmark and considered to be one of the more popular historic tourist visitor locations in the United States. Auburn Avenue, the street which will host the first Black History Month Parade is known as “the richest negro street in the world” as coined by historic civic and political leader John Wesley Dobbs.

This Black History Month Parade is being organized by the Sweet Auburn Area Coalition, “an organization whose team is compiled of individuals with a long rich history of producing culturally enhancing events in the Atlanta area including the Sweet Auburn Springfest, Sweet Auburn Heritage Festival, SCLC Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, MLK March & Sweet Auburn Obama Inauguration Celebration,” adds Khalil Islam.
