Raleigh, NC, February 15, 2012 --(PR.com
)-- Chip Mims, CEO of Mims Distributing Company (http://www.mimsdist.com), a beer distributor that services a nine-county area in and around the Triangle, has announced that the company has moved into a new facility located at 8605 Ebenezer Church Road, near I-540, I-40 and RDU International Airport in Raleigh. While the company’s previous facility at 2100 Harrod St. was 89,000 square feet and occupied 4.5 acres, the new facility is approximately 140,000 square feet and occupies 13.5 acres, with 22 loading docks. The new facility offers several climate-controlled storage and loading areas in order to ensure optimum quality control for all of Mims’ products.
“Mims Distributing Company’s recent move to its new location provides us with the resources needed for the continuous expansion of our business,” said Mims. “This new space will accommodate our long-term growth and allow us to provide the freshest beers and other beverages to our retail partners.”
- A high-efficiency building, the new facility has one of the largest private solar rooftop systems in Wake County, featuring a photovoltaic rooftop net metering system that allows the company to collect and use solar power onsite, and offset approximately 20 percent of the building’s energy needs.
- Mims Distributing has installed energy-efficient high-performance insulation, cooling and lighting systems in the new facility, minimizing water consumption through a smart storm water retention strategy that includes a bio-retention pond, the installation of low water use plumbing fixtures and the strategic landscaping of drought-tolerant plants and shrubs.
- Mims’ new facility was previously a pharmaceutical distribution building. The company chose to renovate the building instead of building a new one as part of its mission to be as ecologically friendly as possible.
- Mims Distributing partnered with Prime Building, HagerSmith PA and First Citizens Bank and Baker Renewable Energy on the building.
