John Ela Named 2011 Certified Green Professional of the Year by NAHB

John Ela, CEO of Epoch Homes, a leading Green Custom Modular Home Manufacturer, has been named the 2011 Certified Green Professional (CGP) of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in an awards ceremony at the International Builder Show in Orlando, Florida.

Pembroke, NH, February 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- John Ela has been named the 2011 Certified Green Professional (CGP) of the Year by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in recognition of his successful efforts to make green and energy-efficient homes more understandable – and thus more attainable to home buyers.

Ela is chief executive officer and president of Epoch Homes in Pembroke, N.H., which manufactures custom green modular homes. A CGP since 2008, Ela also is a member of the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of New Hampshire and the Vice Chair of the Build Green New Hampshire Council.

“When John talks to potential home buyers and home builders about how Epoch’s homes are built to be more energy-, water- and resource-efficient, he uses the perspective and knowledge he has gained as a green building pioneer in the state and as a home builder who holds the CGP educational designation,” said Thomas W. Bailey, CGP, a home builder from Plano, Texas, and chair of NAHB’s Green Building Designations’ Board of Governors. “John is raising awareness of the Certified Green Professional.”

“The CGP Designation, the Green Approved factory certification, and our experience building numerous green homes, including the 4DHome for the Solar Decathlon, all contribute to our company’s leadership position in Green Building,” said John Ela. “That reputation helps our brand attract green minded builders and consumers, which in turn allows us to build even more green homes.”

Certified Green Professionals must have two years of experience in the home building industry and complete 24 hours of classroom instruction on green building science and business management techniques. CGPs must earn continuing education every three years to keep the designation current.

Ela and other leading industry professionals were recognized at NAHB’s Designation Achievement Reception at the 2012 International Builders’ Show in Orlando, Fla.
