“Local control of public education is paramount for the educational future of Georgia. HR 1162 is a dangerous step towards removing decisions making powers from parents and local communities and wresting them in the hands of political appointees. I fully support the Georgia House Democrats, Teachers, Parents and Children in their efforts to chart the better course proposed in HR 1335. Georgia needs educational reform that addresses the real problems facing our public education system and the offer real solutions to ensure our next generation has the educational opportunities needed to make Georgia competitive in the future and help us to fulfill the American Dream for more of our citizens.”
