Fort Walton Beach, FL, February 22, 2012 --(PR.com
)-- Fort Walton Beach Medical Center is the first hospital in the panhandle to offer the use of a smart phone application to allow people to notify the ER staff that they are en route to the hospital.
“We already have patients who use their smart phones for directions and to check our wait times, so this is the next logical step toward making our services easy to find and utilize,” says CEO John Deardorff.
The iTriage application, which has been available for a couple of years, allows smart phone users to quickly access a variety of healthcare information about symptoms, diseases, medications, procedures, and nearby facilities.
Now, when a consumer uses the iTriage application to locate Fort Walton Beach Medical Center or its affiliate Destin Emergency Care Center, the user will have the option to click “iNotify” from the facility’s listing. From there, the patient can fill out specific details like symptoms experienced, allergies, and anything else helpful for ER staff to know prior to arrival. This makes it possible for the ER team to be prepared for the patient’s care needs even before he/she arrives.
“As a healthcare app that aggregates symptom, disease, procedure and provider information, iTriage is helping empower consumers with their healthcare needs,” said Peter Hudson, M.D., co-founder of iTriage.
iTriage is available as a free download from app stores for iPhone® and Android™ devices, and is accessible from any Internet-enabled device at www.iTriageHealth.com.
