Greenpacket Showcases World’s 1st High-Gain TDD LTE Dongle at Mobile World Congress

Greenpacket TDD LTE Roadmap Sets New Performance Benchmark for 4G USB Modems with the Introduction of the World's First High-Gain TDD LTE Modem.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, February 25, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Greenpacket, a leading developer of next generation mobile broadband and networking solutions, announced that it will reveal the world’s first high-gain TDD LTE modem at the upcoming Mobile World Congress. The company’s first LTE product will be a multi-band 2.3Ghz to 2.7Ghz USB modem available worldwide in the first quarter of 2012. The design of the USB modem is inspired by its award-winning 4G WiMAX UH modem which emphasizes performance, portability and flexibility. Greenpacket is today the world’s third largest supplier of 4G WiMAX devices.

James Wang, Senior Vice President of Innovation, Strategies and Development (ISD) of Greenpacket said, “We fully understand the performance issues of WiMax and LTE USB dongle. The 5 dBi of extra gain provided by the modem will set a clear performance benchmark in the 4G LTE industry. By improving the device performance uplink, we can significantly combat the asymmetries between the uplink and downlink radio resources thus enhancing operators’ services by providing end users better connectivity; anywhere, anytime.”

Wang added “LTE’s uplink is based on the SC-FDMA scheme, which has lower Peak to Average Ratio (PAR) than WiMAX’s OFDMA scheme, and we expect major uplink performance improvements over WiMAX.”

Greenpacket is set to capitalize on the growing subscriber base for TDD LTE forecasted at 25% of the 31 million LTE subscriber base in 2012. And USB dongle is expected to be the form factor of choice with 33% user base.

Kelvin Lee, Senior General Manager of Greenpacket said “There has been a growing demand for higher bandwidth and more reliable data services. Operators need to be able to harness the power and speed of LTE in delivering superior and quality services to their subscribers. We are duplicating a proven product based on our experience, to ensure operators the ability to transition and commercialize their services smoothly and successfully as LTE is fast becoming the main telecommunication standard for operators globally.”

“Greenpacket is working diligently to be the partner of choice for enabling high speed mobile broadband experience on TDD LTE. According to GSA, band 2.3 to 2.7 GHz covers 90% of the current TDD LTE market and a wide-band modem will allow operators to generate more revenue from roaming business,” added Lee.

The high-gain TDD LTE device has passed the chipset Interoperability-test (IOT) of major TDD LTE base-stations across multi-band 38/40/41. To provide users with a superior mobile broadband experience, the modem is able to operate in a hostless mode; without the need for a driver and will support various operating systems such as Windows, Linux and Mac OS.

Greenpacket will be showcasing its new High-Gain TDD LTE USB Modem at the Mobile World Congress 2012 conference in Barcelona from February 27th to March 1st. Greenpacket experts will be available on ground for further information.
