South Nassau Communities Hospital Chief Medical Officer Named to Best Doctors Data Base

Oceanside, NY, February 29, 2012 --(PR.com)-- South Nassau Communities Hospital’s chief medical officer Linda Efferen, MD, has been selected to the Best Doctors in America database. This is the second peer-reviewed media honor that Dr. Efferen has received recently. Becker's Hospital Review included her in its prestigious listing of the top "56 Women Hospital and Healthcare Leaders to Know" in the United States.

The Best Doctors in America database contains the names and professional profiles of approximately 45,000 of the best doctors in the U.S. An exhaustive peer-review survey by thousands of doctors determines the physicians included in the database. Only those who earn the consensus support of their peers are included.

As South Nassau’s chief medical officer, Dr. Efferen is responsible for facilitating medical staff interactions with hospital administration and the governing board and for assuring the effective and efficient delivery of quality medical care consistent with the hospital’s mission. She also assists with strategic planning and execution, as well as the implementation of care management programs, and monitors the effectiveness of management practices and productivity indicators.

Dr. Efferen is board-certified in hospice and palliative medicine, critical care medicine, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. In addition to Best Doctors in America and Becker’s Hospital Review, she has been listed in the Consumers Research Council of America’s Guide to America’s Top Physicians and Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors: New York Metro Area (for seven years) and has received a host of awards/honors, including a spot in the 2010 class of Long Island Business News’ Long Island’s Top 50 Business Women.
