Roswell, NM, March 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Independent publishing company Cleanan Press, Inc. announces the publication of four collections of Carolina Lowcountry folklore, ghost stories, and African-American Gullah folktales on iTunes. These charming stories, including "Tales from Brookgreen" and three shorter collections, have been available for Kindle (readable on Mac, PC, Android, Blackberry, etc) for over a year, where they often appear in bestseller lists. All are available for Nook, Kobo, and Sony e-readers as well.

One of the three shorter collections, "Lowcountry Ghosts," includes stories of a young girl still searching for her lost ring more than one hundred years after her death, spirits that guard beads from a long-forgotten grave, and ghostly ships that appear in marshes where pirates and Confederate blockade-runners once roamed.

The other two short collections, "Gullah Ghosts" and "Crab Boy’s Ghost," feature stories, folktales, and historical information from the African-American Gullah culture once so alive along the South Carolina coast.

A book discussion guide and an author interview add to the longer collection, "Tales from Brookgreen," which contains all the stories from the other three books and several additional tales.

These Lowcountry tales all originated on four historic rice plantations that became Brookgreen Gardens in the 1930s. Today, this outdoor sculpture garden attracts thousands of visitors from nearby Myrtle Beach on the South Carolina coast. In the middle of the Twentieth Century, hostesses Genevieve Chandler Wilcox and Corrie Dusenbury (the author’s cousin) often told these tales to park visitors. Now Lynn Michelsohn recounts them for modern readers.

Ms Michelsohn, author of books about the Southwestern United States as well as the Galapagos Islands, enjoys writing about travel, local history, and folklore. These three subjects often come together in her books, as they do in here. Although she has lived many other places, this tenth generation Carolinian says, “My heart remains in the Carolina Lowcountry, where Spanish moss trails from ancient live oak trees and sea breezes carry tales of history, mystery, and romance.”

"Tales from Brookgreen" is available in paperback from online booksellers worldwide and through local bookstores. It is now also available from iTunes, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Sony, and Kobo as an ebook, as are all three shorter collections. Extensive excerpts and additional information about the Carolina Lowcountry appear on the Cleanan Press website, www.cleananpress.com.
