A New Crop of Black Authors Offer Insight, Inspiration and Controversy at Book Showcase

Howard University Continuing Education Hosts Metro DC Black Author Showcase

Silver Spring, MD, September 26, 2007 --(PR.com)-- On October 19th, 22nd Century Press will present its second Black Author Showcase™ featuring a selection of new self-published book authors living in the Washington, DC, metro area. The free event will take place at the Howard University Continuing Education in Silver Spring, Maryland from 4:30 to 8:30 PM. These new Black writers are challenging readers with topics that big name, establishment publishers often choose to ignore.

A sampling of the authors presenting their works includes: Dr. Rey Harris, Motivational Morsels; Sylvia Henderson., Why You Talk So White? Eliminate the Behaviors That Sabotage Your Success; James A. Jimason, Dantes Destiny; Howard alumnus Angeline Bandon-Bibum, Sojourner's Dream; Howard faculty member Henriette Edmonds, The Georgia Avenue Bus; Stafford L. Battle, co-author of AFROCyberSpace: 1000+ African American Websites That Will Change Your World; Shaun Mathis, This Hurts; Thomasina Wren, Small, Brown Wren; and Leutrell "Mike" Osborne, Black Man in the CIA.

Stafford Battle, a digital designer at Howard University and co-author of AFROCyberspace, added, "It's great to see so many new faces publishing books by traditional and nontraditional means. We don't need the huge mega publishers. On demand production services and the Internet allow small books to create big names in American literature based on talent and writing skill; and not solely on profit margins for foreign investors."

Black Author Showcase™ has been designed by 22nd Century Press to assist authors in creating, preparing, writing, and marketing their works. Its’ aim is to connect authors with other literary professionals and readers utilizing the latest advances in digital publishing. This information is disseminated in the spirit of cooperative economics, shared knowledge and collective works to reach the African American market with writing and publishing education, news and information.

22nd Century Press is an independent publisher for self-published authors that is solely owned by KMG Consulting, a 16 year company in Prince George’s County, MD. They assist in choosing the right services, technology, marketing methods, and all of the basics needed by self-published authors.
