Ear Trumpet Labs Introduces Hand Made Condenser Microphones with Distinctive Retro Styling

Craft microphone builder debuts new series of uniquely designed live microphones for performing artists.

Portland, OR, March 09, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Combining a distinctive visual design style with professional sound tailored for live use, Ear Trumpet Labs is a new audio company based in Portland, Oregon committed to bringing the best of visual and sonic creativity to microphones for performing musicians.

The handmade microphones in Ear Trumpet Labs’ new product line are built from plumbing and electrical hardware, kitchen gadgets, bicycle parts, and other found objects. The designs are inspired by classic broadcast microphones of the last century and an early industrial aesthetic. The acoustics and electronics are state of the art, using condenser capsules and point-to-point hand wired transformerless FET circuits for exceptionally clean and quiet sound reproduction. The microphones are tuned for ease of use in live performance settings, but are also finding popularity in the recording studio.

“Musicians haven’t had a lot of options for truly distinctive looking microphones, let alone mics that also sound great. While there are good-looking and sounding guitars, amps, and other gear that help a performer create a full stage experience, we’re providing a visual and sonic centerpiece for the most important part of most musicians’ stage presence – the microphone,” commented Philip Graham, the proprietor of the new business. Regarding the sound quality of the new microphones, he said, “We’ve combined terrific feedback rejection and a tight pickup pattern with an open and natural condenser sound that significantly improves on the microphones commonly used for live performance. It’s the best of both worlds – great looks and great sound.”

All Ear Trumpet Labs microphones are completely hand built in the company’s Portland workshop. The company offers several standard designs as well as a number of unique, one-off microphones built using found bicycle parts. The microphones have been road-tested by locally and nationally touring performers at festivals and in venues large and small, and are now offered for sale directly from the company’s web site (http://www.eartrumpetlabs.com).
