Architectural Firm Completes Project for New Hanover County Schools
Fayetteville, NC, March 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- SfL+a Architects (http://www.sfla.biz) has announced the firm’s completion of Snipes Academy of Arts & Design in Wilmington, N.C. for New Hanover County Schools. At a cost of $10.8 million, the 89,850-square-foot Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Registered educational facility is built to serve 600 students, providing roughly 150 square feet per student. The two-story structure includes a full gymnasium and 500-seat auditorium covered by an Energy Star hybrid built-up roof. Other cost-saving features of the energy efficient building include face brick exterior walls, Concrete Masonry Unit (CMU) interior walls, interior painted CMU and gypsum board on metal studs, acoustical tile ceilings and vinyl tile floors, aluminum windows with insulated glass, hollow metal door frames and wood doors. Further site work will include a parking lot for buses and cars, access drives and concrete sidewalks.
