GEF Institute Announces Sustainability Concepts Certification

New Certification in Sustainability Offers Credit Bearing Online Courses

Walpole, MA, March 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- After much research, Green Education Foundation (GEF) has launched a new division, GEF Institute, to meet market demands for online courses and certification in sustainability. All of the Institute's 15 hour online courses are eligible for professional development or academic credit, which has been identified as a major value add component for students, educators and professionals. Over 70 percent of those surveyed indicated interest in a professional certification in sustainability concepts. In achieving a certification, students have demonstrated their credibility and commitment to sustainability, positioning themselves for advancement and new opportunities.

GEF Institute’s Sustainability Concepts Certification is designed to introduce participants to important topics in sustainability using real world examples, interactive activities, and dynamic instruction. The goal is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for success in the classroom, workplace, or higher education. Course topics required for certification are Introduction to Sustainability Concepts, Sustainable Water Systems, Sustainable Energy and Technology, Introduction to Green Building, and an independent study project. Two courses will be available online beginning April 1, and the Institute is offering early bird enrollment through March 20 for these spring offerings – Introduction to Sustainability Concepts and Sustainable Water Systems.
