Mud - It's What's for Dinner

Seven Springs Mountain Resort Hosts Grueling Seven-Mile Adventure Race

Seven Springs, PA, March 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania’s premier year-round family destination, presents a new innovative and adventurous event – Mud on the Mountain, May 12, 2012!

Using the beautiful mountains that surround Seven Springs, the event brings to the region a unique version of the popular endurance-style events that combine distance, terrain and obstacles to test a competitor’s ability to finish.

“The terrain of the mountain makes it a perfect location to stage this type of event,” said Melissa Cullin, event director at the resort. “Many of the planned obstacles used elements of nature to challenge and test those competing. Boulder fields, extremely steep inclines and mountain ponds are all part of the mix of challenges that will test the runners.”

The course weaves across more than seven miles of demanding terrain requiring competitors to traverse ponds, scale boulder fields, climb over obstacles and claw up impossible inclines, all on the way to a triumphant finish atop an intimidating pile of snow.

“Endurance events differ from road runs in that they test not only the running ability of athletes but also their ability to overcome obstacles that are both mentally and physically hard to complete,” added Cullin.

Competitors will start the event in 20 minute intervals, beginning at 8 a.m. Each wave will have a maximum of 300 people. The event has a cap of 5,400 competitors. Early registration is encouraged, and those who register by the March 14 discount deadline will pay $65. Registration received between March 15 and May 10 will be priced at $80 per competitor.

Visitor passes will be available at the event for $10 each and allow family members and spectators to travel to the top of the course via the chairlifts. These passes are free with any on-resort lodging.
