Number of United Kingdom Citizens Traveling to Poland for Medical Treatment is Set to Increase

In 2006, patients from outside of Poland spent US $65 million on medical treatment, and it is estimated that 3% of the 15.2 million tourists who visited Poland last year, did so for dental or medical procedures.

London, United Kingdom, May 25, 2007 --(PR.com)-- According to forecasts by the The Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (Paiz), the number of patients traveling to Poland from overseas is set to increase by 10-20% each year, as increasing numbers of British patients realise that the price of dentistry and surgery can be a lot less in Poland compared to the United Kingdom. In many cases, savings of up to 60% can be made.

In addition to this, increasing air connections between Polish cities and cities in the United Kingdom are offered by budget airlines, making the journey more convenient than ever before.

In response to this demand, Warsaw-based StatMedica has launched a new web-based portal, which provides information to patients looking to visit Poland for dental and medical procedures.

As of May 2007, www.statmedica.com will provide comprehensive listings of selected private clinics in Poland, as well as the latest news from Poland’s private medical sector and downloadable interviews with leading surgeons.

Founding Partner of StatMedica, Lukasz Liese says, “The standard of private healthcare in Poland is very high. The dentists and surgeons that we represent are highly qualified and have some of the highest standards in Europe.”

StatMedica can also assist patients in selecting a suitable clinic, and can provide local support in Poland: from translation and interpreter services to 24-hour care by a qualified healthcare professional.

Speaking from StatMedica’s central London office, founding partner Alison Hope says, “It is certainly not simply a question of looking for a cheap alternative. Many of the clinics have very high standards with highly qualified dentists and surgeons, so it is more a case of getting value for money and enabling patients to get treatment that otherwise would be prohibitively expensive at home in the United Kingdom.”
