Brooklyn Industries Plants Fashionable Seeds in the Community for Earth Day

In celebration of Earth Day, the Brooklyn brand stands firmly behind their mission to Live, Work, and Create by giving the gift of sustainable fashion, innovation and community involvement.

Brooklyn, NY, April 07, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Brooklyn Industries has always been connected to the need to engage in the surrounding landscape, but also being torn between the love of the city and the desire to find abandoned, open and natural spaces. In honor of Earth Day, Brooklyn Industries will bridge the gap between the city and nature by celebrating with a series of events and product launches.

Earth Day celebrations will kick off with the unveiling of a Limited Edition Seed Dress, release of the Seed Bomb Bracelet and launch of Seed Bomb vending machines in select retail locations. The Brooklyn Industries team will then assist the Isabahlia Garden on April 11th with the restoration of a newly acquired community garden. The finale to the Earth Day season will be a terrarium building event that will take place at the brands Williamsburg location on April 18th from 7-9pm.

The Limited Edition Seed Dress was made from a locally sourced organic cotton voile fabric. Decorated by hand with a variety of plant and flower seeds, this custom vintage style dress is 100% natural with no metal zippers or plastic buttons. Handmade seed beads were used for all button trims and the back bottom closure, making the dress completely bio-degradable.

In collaboration with Commonstudio at www.greenaid.com, Brooklyn Industries created handmade Seed Bomb Bracelets. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of the exclusive bracelets will go to the conservation of the community gardens under the Isabahlia Ladies of Elegance Foundation. Like Greenaid, Brooklyn Industries is committed to serving the local community and is joining forces with the Isabahlia Garden to assist in the local cleanup efforts, educate the local community and raise awareness regarding urban farming.

The Limited Edition Seed Bomb Bracelets were handcrafted in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The striking seed beads are made from a mixture of clay, compost and seeds. Natural twine holds 3 unique seed beads together to create an organic stylish accessory that is meant to be worn and when inspired, thrown into any space to then watch the seed beads sprout into a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

The Limited Edition Seed Dress, Seed Bead Bracelet and Seed Bead Vending Machines will be on display at the Brooklyn Industries stores in: Union Square, Smith Street and Park Slope.
