Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez to be Keynote at ALPFA Boston Sixth Annual Latina Summit

Boston, MA, April 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- ALPFA Boston announced details of its Sixth Annual Boston Chapter Latina Summit entitled Building Latina Leaders, Strong From the Inside Out.

This year’s Latina Summit is part of ALPFA National’s 10-City Tour to recognize the tenth year for the Women of ALPFA program. The tour aims to build stronger Latina Leaders by tapping into their passions and finding a balance that will enrich, energize, and inspire them. The tour will include Chicago, Orlando, Los Angeles, and Boston, to name a few. The theme will also be reflected at the 40th Annual ALPFA National Convention in Las Vegas, NV from August 11 – 16.

The event’s keynote will be eight-term Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez, D-Calif., and will also feature Manny Espinoza, ALPFA National CEO. Deloitte is the National lead sponsor; TJX Companies, State Street Corporation and Liberty Mutual Insurance Group are Boston Lead Sponsors and the event is being hosted by Fidelity Investments®. It will be the largest event dedicated to Latina leaders ever held in Massachusetts.

The Women of ALPFA program was developed to empower Latinas and women to reach their full potential. Through targeted programs, access to opportunities and exposure to senior leaders, we provide a road map to strengthen leadership and management skills that fosters both professional and personal development.

According to the last Census, the Hispanic population in the US alone is currently over 50 million and expected to grow 133 million in the next 40 years. Given the strong influence women have in the decision making process of this segment, the time is right to discuss and unleash the qualities of authentic leadership, and the unique perspectives women bring to the workplace and to the community.

Marcela Aldaz, Executive Vice President for the Boston Chapter and Vice President of Women of ALPFA in Boston added, “We expect to impact the lives of 400-500 attendees at the event and provide a forum for Latinas to develop their leadership skills, hear and learn from other Latina leaders and inspire them to aspire for leadership positions above the glass ceiling. We are honored to have been chosen as one of the 10- cities, as it reflects the successful work we have done locally for our members and our goal of building more Latina leaders.”

Rene Jarquin, President of ALPFA Boston said, “I’m very excited about the event and to have Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez as keynote speaker of our Women of ALPFA 6th Annual Latina Summit. This program is one of the most successful ones in Boston and every year, demonstrates the passion of the Women of ALPFA Committee that works to bring us the best in programming. To think that such an accomplished Latina leader as Congresswoman Sanchez will be addressing our members in Boston is not only amazing but of great honor to our chapter. I believe our audience will be inspired by what she will share at our event.”

The event will take place on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 from 3:00 PM - 9:30 PM at the Seaport Boston Hotel, One Seaport Lane, Boston, MA 02210. Join us for an exciting event with great speakers, networking opportunities and fun giveaways.
