Worlds Collide at Franklin High

Somerset, NJ, April 23, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Classic’s students from New Jersey’s public, private and home schools will meet on Saturday May 12, 2012 at Franklin High School in Somerset, NJ for the New Jersey Junior Classical League’s State Convention. The students will compete in academic and artistic competitions based on knowledge of the language and culture of ancient Rome and Greece, as well as sports competitions grounded in the traditional events of the ancient Olympic Games.

It is anticipated that hundreds of students from among the 57 local New Jersey chapters will attend a day of fun and competition. The day will commence with a gathering of students that include school-spirit chanting. The students then have the opportunity to compete in numerous competitions with the grand finale of the day being the chariot race in chariots that the students have prepared in the days and weeks leading up to the Convention.

The annual New Jersey JCL State Convention is an exciting day filled with camaraderie, good sportsmanship and plain old-fashioned fun. Some of New Jersey’s brightest students will be at the Convention demonstrating just how important and entertaining the study of the language, literature and culture of ancient Greece and Rome is to the modern student. Franklin High School is located at 500 Elizabeth Avenue, Somerset, NJ.
