Portland Timbers Unveil New Fieldturf Surface at Team’s Practice Facility

Team adds FieldTurf to adidas Timbers Training Center.

Beaverton, OR, April 28, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Portland Timbers have yet again selected FieldTurf. The team just unveiled its new training facility, fully equipped with a FieldTurf surface. The adidas Timbers Training Center, which will be used by the soccer club as well as the local community, features two training fields and was constructed as part of a 10-year partnership with Tualatin Hills Park & Recreation District.

“FieldTurf has provided a top-quality field that will benefit the Timbers and thousands of young soccer players from our area at the adidas Timbers Training Center,” said Gavin Wilkinson, general manager of the Timbers.

The Timbers have now installed a similar artificial turf that covers their primary game field. JELD-WEN Field represents one of the most ionic stadiums in Major League Soccer, and features a FIFA-2 Star certified field. FIFA awards certifications to fields across the world that uphold the standard qualities set by the association, and JELD-WEN Field is widely considered as one of the best across the globe.

The field will serve the needs of the community and allow for extensive use by the area’s young players. The sport of soccer is on the rise in the United States, and the Timbers look to continue being exemplary role models within the Portland region. The field will play host to numerous events sponsored each year, and Portland will continue to etch its mark as one of the most vibrant soccer cities in America.

FieldTurf has a large imprint in Major League Soccer. The Timbers, Seattle Sounders FC, New England Revolution, Chicago Fire, and New York Red Bulls all play and/or practice on FieldTurf. On a more global scale, FieldTurf also boats some of the grandest stages in international competition. Luzhniki Stadium in Russia and Salt Lake Stadium in India also feature FieldTurf surfaces.
