ASDA Launches Leadership Development Conference for Dental Students

Chicago, IL, May 02, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The American Student Dental Association opened registration today for its first-ever National Leadership Conference to take place Nov. 2-4 at the Holiday Inn Mart Plaza in Chicago. The event was created when ASDA recognized that its members experience a void in training related to “non-dentistry” business and soft skills. Not all U.S. dental schools educate their students on how to run an effective meeting, how to work with different personality types or budgeting after graduation. As a result, ASDA’s National Leadership Conference was developed.

The inaugural event will provide leadership training to ASDA members across all years in dental school. Attendees can build their schedule based on personal interests or positions held at the chapter level. In additional to several general sessions, learning tracks include:

ASDA & Organized Dentistry
Career Planning & Business Leadership
Advocacy, Politics & Professional Issues
Chapter Leadership & Management

“Every emerging dentist can benefit from strong leadership skills in their personal and professional lives,” said Dr. Ryan Dulde, 2010-11 ASDA Speaker of the House and co-chair of the task force who built the event from ground up. “ASDA has always focused on developing its leaders in national positions, but now we’ve opened up this training opportunity to the general membership. It’s uncharted territory for ASDA. I’m thrilled to help bring this type of benefit to members for the first time.”

All ASDA members are invited to register by June 29 to save $50. For details, visit www.ASDAnet.org/NLC.
