Football Ventures Publishing Announces "The Testimonials"
Charleston, SC, May 06, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Football Ventures Publishing, a division of Football Ventures, today announced its first publication title "The Testimonials" by Michael Douglas Smith. Set between Africa and America, the fictional story centers around the plight of six young men who face challenges growing up surrounded by war and violence yet become upstanding members of their communities and serve their countries. Although the boys take different paths they remain close and their lives intersect in amazing ways that culminate in a testimonial (match) for one of the players.
A testimonial match, often referred to simply as a testimonial, is a practice in some sports, notably football and especially in the United Kingdom, where a club puts on a match in honor of a player for service to the club.
Michael Douglas Smith, who has worked in soccer for 25+ years at every level of the game and also served in the US Army, came up with the storyline in 2008 and originally wanted to publish the book in time for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, but the traditional challenges of taking a book to market didn’t fit at the time.
With Football Ventures Publishing, Smith was able to use an aggregation of established platforms and resources to take this to market. In order to reach the largest possible audience, The Testimonials has launched a kickstarter (www.kickstarter.com) campaign to make the book in various formats (digital, audio, paperback and hardback) and to be able to offer each at a significant discount to traditional pricing. The kickstarter site will be making updates every few days with soccer personalities around the world.
