Gov. Beverly Perdue Proclaims Wednesday, May 23 as North Carolina Veterinarians Day

Governor Commends Observance by N.C. Citizens of Veterinarian Impact on Health And Safety

Raleigh, NC, May 10, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association (http://www.ncvma.org/) has announced that Gov. Beverly Perdue has signed a proclamation announcing Wednesday, May 23, 2012, as North Carolina Veterinarians Day and commends citizen observance of veterinarian’s impact on the health and safety of animals and humans. The state of North Carolina joins the NCVMA and other interested organizations in recognizing veterinarians’ dedication to preserving the human-animal bond and promoting the highest standards of science-based, ethical animal welfare. The proclamation states that veterinarians provide valuable public health services through preventative medicine, control of zoonotic diseases and scientific research. The nonprofit organization will host its annual Veterinarians Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, May 23; and the event will bring together state legislators and veterinarians in various practices from across the state to discuss animal welfare policy and veterinary medicine.
