William Peace University Partners with N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities on Show Choir

Four-Year Baccalaureate University Supports 2013 Competition of Glee Clubs from Middle and High Schools Across North Carolina.

Raleigh, NC, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced its partnership with the N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities to support the 2013 district and state final competitions of show choirs also known as glee clubs, from high schools across the state. The event will be named the William Peace University North Carolina Show Choir Competition. This is the only school music competition in North Carolina to crown a true champion among glee clubs and show choirs, and next year’s event will expand the contest to include middle school students as well. Tentative plans for the university’s participation in the 2012-2013 academic year include university personnel members to serve as judges for the district or state final competitions. The site of next year’s final remains to be determined. The state final for the 2012 competition occurred May 5 at Atkins Academic and Technology High School in Winston-Salem, with Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point named as the winner.

The N.C. Association for Scholastic Activities is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit association of schools that promotes academic excellence and success of North Carolina students through scholastic competition. For more information, visit http://www.ncscholastic.org.
