William Peace University Singers to Perform at Wake County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony May 16

Chorus at Four-Year Baccalaureate University to Sing with Christian Music Artist John Angotti at Annual Event Honoring the Memories of Wake County’s Fallen Officers.

Raleigh, NC, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- William Peace University (http://www.peace.edu), a private four-year university located in downtown Raleigh, has announced that the Peace Singers will be performing with Christian music artist John Angotti as part of the third annual Wake County Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony on Wednesday, May 16 at 10 a.m. outside the Progress Energy Center at 2 E. South St. A small group of the 18-member vocal ensemble of university students will perform Kirk Franklin’s “My Life Is In Your Hands,” “Thanks and Praise,” and “Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace” at the event, which honors the sacrifice of Wake County’s 19 officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in the county over the years. Raleigh Police Chief Harry Dolan invited the Peace Singers to participate in the event. This marks the first time the Peace Singers have appeared at the ceremony.

Each May during National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, the nation pauses to recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. National Police Week recognizes the service and sacrifice of America’s law enforcement officers. The week is marked by a series of commemorative events in Washington, D.C., where law enforcement officers from all over the nation gather to remember those who lost their lives in the line of duty. The local ceremony is planned by representatives from the Raleigh Police Department, Wake County Sheriff's Office, Cary Police Department, Morrisville Police Department, Wake Forest Police Department and the State Highway Patrol.

Quotes:
“William Peace University is humbled to participate in this ceremony to remember those who gave the greatest sacrifice for our protection,” said Debra M. Townsley, Ph.D., president of William Peace University. “The Peace Singers will be representing our love and commitment to the community through their talents in this ceremony. We thank Chief Dolan for offering us to contribute to this important event.”
