InfoSec Skills Launches Free Security Training Modules for UK Cyber Challenge Candidates

London, United Kingdom, May 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- InfoSec Skills (http://www.infosecskills.com) has launched four fully subsidised topics from their premium information security training courses in Information Security Management Principles and Security Architecture. These training modules have been provided for all Cyber Security Challenge UK candidates in an attempt to encourage more of the challenge contestants to remain in the competition for the long haul, providing a glimpse into what it means to be an information security professional. Terry Neal, InfoSec Skills CEO, says, “We are extremely excited to have opened up our courses to this year’s CSCUK candidates, free of charge. The InfoSec Skills management team sees these students as the future of Cyber Security in the UK. It is a great honour for InfoSec Skills to be working at such a strategic level within the UK in order to make sure our country’s public and private companies are secure and our citizens remain as safe as possible.”

Director of Faculty and Courses at InfoSec Skills, John Hughes, went on to say that, “Supporting CSCUK has been one of my own personal missions this year. As a career security professional, I know only too well that most security professionals have become what they are today through accidentally being involved in secure projects in the workplace, rather than being a real career path that they could choose from early in their development. This is changing, and we see this especially in academia, where many universities that started with MSc programmes in security now offer undergraduate degrees as well. However, it’s still not enough, and we certainly need to encourage diversification. We need more women getting interested in security. We need to cross train more programmers, system engineers, and even those interested in physical security need better understanding of information security principles. This is where InfoSec Skills is heading with our hybrid courses coming out later this year.”

Since their inception last year, InfoSec Skills has come a long way in a short period of time, with new strategic partners in many business sectors. This latest move with CSCUK means that InfoSec Skills, from a training and professionalism perspective, is right at the heart of security’s new world order.
