Urban American Outdoors is having their 7th Annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby and USFWS Director Dan Ashe is the special guest speaker.

Kansas City, KS, May 18, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The Urban American Outdoor Television Show proudly announces Dan Ashe, Director of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service as their “special” guest speaker for the 7th Annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby, Saturday May 19, 2012 at the Kansas City Kansas Community College pond at 7250 State Avenue in Kansas City, Kansas. Confirmed June 30, 2011 as the 16th Director of the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Dan Ashe’s appointment by President Obama is the ultimate reward for a lifetime dedicated to the Service.

Dan Ashe was born and spent his childhood in Atlanta, Georgia, where his father began his 37-years career with the National Fish and Wildlife Service. Director Dan Ashe’s childhood was mainly spent on national wildlife refuges and fish hatcheries in the Southeast, where he learned to fish, hunt, and band birds and, most importantly, simply enjoy the outdoors. Prior to his appointment as Director, Ashe served as the Service’s Deputy Director for Policy beginning in 2009, where he provided strategic program direction and developed policy and guidance to support and promote program development towards fulfilling the Service’s mission.

Joining Director Ashe from Washington D.C. on this tour will be Chris Tollefson, the Service’s Chief of Communications and Hannibal Bolton, Assistant Director for the Wildlife and Sport Fish Restoration Program. During their visit, the three men will be the guest of host Wayne Hubbard for a private hunt to be featured on a forthcoming UAO Television episode airing later in the season.

While visiting the State of Kansas, Director Ashe will meet with Governor Sam Brownback and Kansas State Fish and Wildlife Secretary Robin Jennison. Along with Kansas State Senator David Haley and Mayor Reardon, Secretary Jennison and staff and Former Kansas Chief Will Shields are honored guests of the 7th Annual Urban Kids Fishing Derby. Also while in Kansas City, Director Dan Ashe will meet with Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II.

Executive Producer of UAO, Candice Price stated “Being in nature is good for children and it is great way to introduce it to them at a young age. We have also found that there are now a lot of opportunities which have not always been accessible to the youth of the city, so we try to make it a little easier for them to become involved in a fun way and we are please that Director Dan Ashe Chris Tollefson and Hannibal Bolton are coming here to be a part of this event.”

Saturday May 19th promises family fun, childhood excitement, and social access to area elected officials, fish and wildlife policymakers, and dedicated outdoor advocates. Urban American Outdoors Production extends an open invitation for area residents to join them in welcoming Director Ashe and other visiting dignitaries, not only to the State of Kansas but to a very unique Urban Kids Fishing Derby within the region.
