Ocean Blue Launches World's First Digital TV Calendar and Diary at ANGA 2012

Ocean Blue Software, a leading innovator of digital TV middleware software, has developed an interactive assistive living TV calendar and diary that will help people organise their lives via their TVs and enable doctors to interact with patients at home.

Bristol, United Kingdom, May 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The new TimeWatch Calendar & diary system - which will be launched at the ANGA Cable Show in Germany Next month - is the world's first embedded diary for use on digital TVs and set-top boxes.

With IP connectivity the Timewatch Calendar can be linked to, for example, Google calendar, health care system servers or medical clinic online calendars. Examples of such interaction would include family and friends being able to post reminders on to the calendar. Doctors and other health care professionals will also be able to interact with patients and manage medical appointments through the calendar.

Patients will be able to book an appointment with their doctor from the comfort of their home by using the coloured buttons on their digital remote control. The doctor can then accept the appointment or propose an alternative date. Messages/alerts/reminders will flash up on the patient's TV screen to remind them of upcoming doctors' appointments and also when to take their medication.

Future versions will allow calendar alerts to be vocalised via Ocean Blue's Talk TV module and can be accompanied by images illustrating the nature of the alert; for instance pictures showing what medication to take or photos of relatives with birthdays coming up.

Whilst IP connection enhances the capability of Timewatch, a user's calendar can also be exported and imported via USB stick allowing individuals and families to create calendar accounts and organise their lives via their TVs.

Timewatch is the latest innovation from Ocean Blue which has developed Nexus TV and Talking TV to provide television-based assistive technologies for the elderly and disabled, offering them greater independence, support and security in their own homes.

"We have received a positive response especially from the healthcare and Digital TV markets" said Ken Helps, CEO of Ocean Blue Software. “Our Timewatch Calendar is set to revolutionise the way people are cared for at home and also provides them with a lifeline to their communities."
