One Million Great Reasons Southern Golfers Should Tee Up at Legacy on Lanier Golf Club This Summer

$1,000,000 Challenge Returns to the Popular Lakeside Golf Course at Georgia’s Lake Lanier Islands Resort

Buford, GA, May 24, 2012 --(PR.com)-- As though breathtaking views of Lake Sidney Lanier and 18 challenging holes of golf were not enough to draw Southern golfers to Legacy on Lanier Golf Club, PGA golf professional and Director of Golf for Lake Lanier Islands Resort, Brian Conley provides an additional one million great reasons to tee up at the picturesque lakeside course this summer. After a wildly positive response to its debut last fall, the $1 Million Challenge returns to Legacy on Lanier.

Beginning Friday, May 25 and running through Thursday, June 21, Legacy on Lanier Golf Club will host Daily Qualifiers*. 25 players who shoot closest to the pin on Legacy’s Hole # 10 during the qualifying period will be invited back to take part in The $1 Million Challenge at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2012. On the day of the Challenge, 30 players will each have a chance to make a Hole-In-One for the Grand Prize of $1,000,000. Participants will be drawn at random to determine order of play with one shot at winning the money.

In order to qualify, players must pre-register in the Golf Shop when checking in for their round and tee-off before 2 p.m. Official Rules can be viewed online at www.lakelanierislandsgolf.com or at the Legacy on Lanier Golf Shop. The cost of the qualifier is covered in the standard golf fees, and no additional fees are required to participate in the $1 Million Challenge. Golfers who do not qualify through the Daily Closest to the Pin Contests will receive a “mulligan” as five Wild Card Players will be selected from a random draw of entries collected at the Golf Shop. Area golfers may also register at Edwin Watts Golf at The Mall of Georgia, as well as other local venues where a “Legacy on Lanier $1,000,000 Challenge” registration box is displayed.

While the premiere of last year’s $1 Million Challenge did not result in a Grand Prize Winner, there were a number of players who won a bevy of prizes in a tandem Closest to the Pin contest. In addition to being afforded the opportunity to make the shot of a lifetime for a chance to win $1,000,000, contenders for this year’s Grand Prize will also be in the running for excellent prizes awarded to the Top Ten players. Those prizes include:

1st Place: One Year of Golf for One at Legacy on Lanier Golf Club
2nd Place: Luxury Golf Weekend Stay for Four at Lake Lanier Islands’ Legacy Lodge
3rd Place: Bridgestone J40 Irons
4th Place: Bridgestone J40 Driver
5th Place: Four Dozen Bridgestone B330 Golf Balls
6th Place: FootJoy XPS-1 Golf Shoe
7th Place: Bridgestone Golf Bag
8th Place: FootJoy Golf Shirt
9th Place: 1 Dozen Bridgestone eSeries Golf Balls
10th Place: Bridgestone Hat & Tour Glove

“Last year’s event was so well-received and a great deal of fun for all involved, we couldn’t wait to do it again,” insists Conley. “Not only does it encourage regular players to try their hand at the Challenge, it’s a great reason for occasional players to blow the dust off their clubs and get back out on the course. While they are here between May 25 and June 21, we invite all players to take a shot at becoming a qualifier – since it’s included in the price of regular play, they really have nothing to lose. Plus, all players who win the Daily Qualifiers receive two rounds of complimentary golf at Legacy on Lanier Golf Club. We’ve had a number of players make a hole-in-one on Hole # 10 since our opening in 2009, so we know it’s entirely possible that some lucky golfer will walk away with the Grand Prize this year. The key is lots of practice and honing the ability to calm those nerves.”

Perched on the scenic shoreline of North Georgia’s Lake Lanier, with the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in the distance, practice could not be more inviting than on this stunning newly renovated course. Highly touted in the Atlanta golf scene for its superior turf conditions and above par levels of service, Legacy on Lanier is rapidly gaining favor among Southern golfers of every skill level.

“No other course in the Southeast offers our same signature blend of breathtaking scenery, 18 holes of challenging play, and dedication to facilitating an excellent golf experience for each and every player. It’s hard to beat a lakeside breeze at your back and sweeping panoramas of Lake Lanier on 12 out of 18 holes,” says Conley. “Add to that the perks of complimentary breakfast, lunch, snacks and beverages** at the Club – and we make sure that golf at Legacy on Lanier is not just a game, it’s a sensory celebration of the sport on a whole. To all players brave enough to take part in this year’s Challenge, my staff and I – along with the rest of the team at Lake Lanier Islands Resort – wish you the very best of luck.”
