TOTVS Geared to Contribute to the Pre-Salt Industry in Brazil

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, June 01, 2012 --(PR.com)-- TOTVS Consulting Energia director Marcelo Herskovits says his main message at the upcoming Pre-Salt Brazil Congress in Rio de Janeiro in June will be to emphasize the importance of managing the entire lifecycle of an oil & gas asset, through the usage of Integrated Planning and equipment’s Integrity Management concepts and tools.

Mr Herskovits says: “The value of an E&P asset varies over its lifecycle and it is important to have an Integrated Planning approach to minimize the total cost of ownership and boost its return. Managing integrity of an oil & gas asset requires a multi-disciplinary approach and a high level of coordination which is vital for success no matter if you are in the Exploration, Development or Production stages.”

As Brazil prepares to explore one of the largest oil discoveries ever, some 250 international oil and gas industry representatives are meeting with the state-run oil governing body Petrobras and other government institutions at the annual Pre-Salt Brazil Congress in Rio de Janeiro from 4-6 June. TOTVS is a platinum sponsor at the event and Mr Herskovits will address the debate panel on Supply Chain Management on “Investment management and integrated planning of a production asset”.

Vision of technological advances
The TOTVS director says his vision for the industry comprises a significant increase in technological advances: “The main change I expect for the coming years, is a drastic reduction in the number of professionals working aboard platforms. The expansion in usage of automation devices, remote control rooms and on-shore experts with the ability and tools to enable working in multiple assets will improve productivity and excellence. In addition, collaboration among players becomes critical and a Corporate Social Network tool, as ByYou - the recently released TOTVS product, becomes an important part of the game.”

Mr Herskovits continues: “Also, the usage of a new generation of subsea equipments will increase the production capacity of each platform while reducing the frequency and criticality of accidents and oil spills. I believe the offshore oil production will become a more productive and environment-safe economic activity, which will reduce the society criticism and postpone the pressure for alternative non-carbon Energy sources. In my opinion, not only technology became crucial for the industry but it is the enabler for its survival across the 21th century.”
