“Movie Book” Gives Blow by Blow Account of Major Events in the Life of Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam

New York, NY, June 08, 2012 --(PR.com)-- In her new book, Farrakhan, The Movie, journalist Leila Wills chronicles the life of controversial Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam (NOI). Dynamic characters and little known details portray the intense history of the group since its formation in 1930 to its current partnership with the Church of Scientology (COS).

The book gives readers a play-by-play account of the harrowing days leading up to the assassination of Malcolm X. It goes inside meetings held by Elijah Muhammad and his instructions to his officials and followers. The story covers the rise of Louis Farrakhan into mainstream black leadership and the heavy infiltration of the group by government agencies.

The book also covers the modern day NOI and the shocking announcement made by Farrakhan in 2009 where he revealed “a marriage” between the Nation of Islam and the Church of Scientology. The eighty-two year-old NOI has been historically critical of integrated groups such as, the NAACP and the Urban League, and this “marriage” with the COS has been highly contentious, both inside and outside the group. There are accusations of Farrakhan abandoning the separatist and apocalyptic teachings of Elijah Muhammad and indoctrinating his followers with the systems of L. Ron Hubbard whose group endeavors to “clear the planet.” Some say this merger marks the end of the oldest, independent black organization in the United States.

Farrakhan, 79, has made auditing, the central practice of Scientology, a requirement for all NOI officials or would-be officials. Since his announcement, over one thousand NOI members have become "Certified Hubbard Dianetics Auditors." The group has designated a National Auditing Captain and has set-up various “org boards” modeled after the COS. According to auditing.org, the COS defines auditors as, “Scientology ministers or ministers-in-training.”

Author Leila Wills says, “Members inside say they don’t do Scientology, they only do Dianetics. Bewildered members, now on the outside, say this is like singing in the choir but not believing in the bible. No matter which side is right, this marks a drastic change in the Nation of Islam and the book dramatizes this major move along with many others.”

Farrakhan, The Movie recaptures significant moments in the NOI in a fast-paced run-down of history. The book was published on May 29, 2012 and is now available on Amazon.com as an eBook or paperback. The website for the book is - www.farrakhanmovie.com.

Leila Wills has worked for several media companies in New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. She was a member of the Nation of Islam in the early nineties and her personal experience coupled with years of research brings this extraordinary story to life. In 2002, she first met with Minister Farrakhan on the project. Since then, she has consulted him several times. In 2012, he decided not to personally contribute.
