Farrell’s 3rd Annual Charity Ice Cream Eating Challenge is Announced

Farrell’s 3rd Annual Splendiferously Superiffic Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge is Announced with a new professional category and Family Festival. Proceeds for this event go to CHOC Children’s® and Make-A-Wish®.

Brea, CA, June 14, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours and Restaurants will be setting out to find the world’s fastest amateur and professional ice cream eaters at Farrell’s 3rd Annual Splendiferously Superiffic Summer Spectacular Ice Cream Eating Challenge. Winners from each category will walk away with free Farrell’s ice cream for an entire year, a trophy, up to $500 in the professional category, and of course the title of The World’s Fastest and Best Ice Cream Eaters...as far as Farrell’s can tell.

From June 18 through July 8, 2012, anyone can walk into any of the four Southern California Farrell’s locations during normal business hours and try to qualify. Amateurs and professionals will eat an ice cream sundae as fast as they can as they vie to be one of the fastest 8 to qualify in their category and be invited back to the big July 15 family festival and ice cream eating championship event in Downtown Brea. Proceeds for this event benefit CHOC Children’s and Make-A-Wish.

Categories and details are as follows:
Men’s Individual Pig’s Trough Challenge
-Ages 16 & up
-Qualifying cost is $20 per person
-Qualifying sundae is a 3-scoop sundae
-Championship sundae is a Farrell’s Famous, 6-scoop, Pig’s Trough Sundae

Women’s Individual Pig’s Trough Challenge
-Ages 16 & up
-Qualifying cost is $20 per person
-Qualifying sundae is a 3-scoop sundae
-Championship sundae is a Farrell’s Famous, 6-scoop, Pig’s Trough Sundae

Kid’s Individual Jr. Pig’s Trough Challenge
-Ages 9-15
-Qualifying cost is $20 per person
-Qualifying sundae is a Jr. 3-scoop sundae
-Championship sundae is a Farrell’s Famous, 6-scoop, Jr. Pig’s Trough Sundae (slightly smaller scoops than the original Pig’s Trough sundae)

The Big and Small Pig’s Trough Challenge
-2-person event, ages 16+ and 9 and under
-Qualifying cost is $20 total per adult / child team
-Qualifying sundae is a 3-scoop sundae
-Championship sundae is a Farrell’s Famous, 6-scoop, Pig’s Trough Sundae

The 4-person Zoo Challenge
-4-person team, ages 16 & up
-Qualifying cost is $20 per person / $80 total per team
-Qualifying sundae is a 3-scoop sundae
-Championship sundae is Farrell’s Famous Zoo

Men’s and Women’s Professional Zoo Challenge
-Ages 16 & up
-Qualifying cost is $40 per person
-Qualifying sundae Farrell’s Famous, 6-scoop, Pig’s Trough sundae
-Championship sundae is a Farrell’s Famous Zoo

The 8 fastest in each category will be invited back to compete in Farrell’s all day Family Festival and Ice Cream Eating Championship on July 15 in Downtown Brea from 11am to 5pm. Farrell’s will close Birch St. in front of its location, build a competition stage and fill the street with carnival rides for kids and families to enjoy. In addition there will be games, giveaways, music, a charity raffle and celebrity appearances.

100% of net proceeds from this event go to CHOC Children’s and Make-A-Wish. The event is produced by Studio Three Sixty Advertising and sponsored by Don-A-Vee Jeep, Raging Waters, Boomers, J. Hungerford Smith, Carnival Services and the Orange County Market Place.
