)-- Global Financial Aid Services is pleased to announce its newest partnership for online document collection and financial aid Verification file review services through its GlobalCORE solution. North Central Texas College (NCTC) is a 2-year public college serving nearly 10,000 undergraduate students at five campus locations in three counties just north of Dallas, Texas.
In this partnership Global collects financial aid-related tax and income information using smart-forms as well as student-specific required documents on behalf of NCTC through an online, college-branded portal. Global’s highly trained team of file review specialists review files for compliance once students submit. The system is completely automated, transparent to the student, and integrated with NCTC’s student information system, POISE. “Before we implemented the new CORE system our office was packed with students waiting to have their files reviewed,” says Ashley Tatum, Director of Financial Aid at NCTC. “My staff spent more time reviewing and organizing tax forms than they did counseling their students. With Global we see students submitting documents, completing forms online, and having their files reviewed before they even get here.”
North Central Texas College was looking for a low-cost solution to the problem of managing and completing all federally required compliance reviews for financial aid recipients selected for Verification when they chose the GlobalCORE solution from Global Financial Aid Services. Over 50% of NCTC’s student body receives some form of federal financial aid. They focused on references from colleges who had implemented CORE elsewhere in Texas such as the Dallas County Community College District and Lone Star College System. “Our main focus was financial aid efficiency at low cost,” says Ashley. “Within two days of ‘Go-Live’ over one-quarter of our selected students had logged into the student portal, started completing forms and uploading documentation.”
The GlobalCORE system uploads federally processed student information records (known as ISIRs) received from NCTC. Notifications are automatically sent to each student directing them to the NCTC portal where easy to use smart forms and options for document submission are presented. Once file review is complete the status is transferred back to the NCTC student information system. The entire process was implemented in a little over one month and is managed through intuitive administrative software jointly controlled by NCTC and Global.
