All Sponsors Return to Support BIFA’s Freight Service Awards 2012

The British International Freight Association (BIFA) - www.bifa.org - is seeking entries for its annual Freight Service Awards competition, celebrating 24 years of recognising the best in the UK freight forwarding industry.

London, United Kingdom, June 16, 2012 --(PR.com)-- Entries to any of the categories can be made through the event’s website at: bifa.org/awards (Enter Now). BIFA’s Freight Service Awards are open to all full and probationary Members of the trade Association.

BIFA Director General, Peter Quantrill says: “BIFA has long emphasised the value of these awards in driving up standards in our industry, while at the same time acknowledging the skills and attributes of the many hard-working individuals and companies working within our industry.

“Sponsors are vital to the success of our annual Freight Service Awards. The fact that all of last year’s sponsors have signed up again for this year is a first for BIFA and is the ultimate vote of confidence in the value of the Awards from those that come forward to sponsor the categories. This neatly complements those Members who also enter annually, to be judged against the highest standards of service and success.

“Eagle-eyed Members may spot that the sponsor for the Air Freight Award last year was British Airways World Cargo and this year it is IAG Cargo, the single business created following the merger of British Airways World Cargo and Iberia Cargo. It is the same sponsor, just a different trading name.”

According to Mr Quantrill, the Awards continue to represent an annual opportunity for UK forwarders to demonstrate excellence. He says: “These awards will be presented in January 2013. The competition is now officially launched so this is the moment to take the time to seriously consider entering any of the categories that reflect the best your company can achieve. As well as encouraging and rewarding high standards and professionalism, the awards represent the ultimate recognition of special achievement in different sectors of the freight forwarding and logistics industry.”

Each of the nine award categories is recognised as very prestigious, and winning an award has become more coveted year-on-year. Judging meetings will be held in mid October to select four finalists in each category, at which stage finalists will be informed if they have made the final shortlist. Finalists will be announced at the end of October, while winners will be announced at the awards ceremony early next year.

The ceremony luncheon continues to be a key annual event on the industry calendar. This event will take place on Thursday 17 January 2013 at London’s popular venue, the Chiswell Street Brewery. The celebrity host for the event will be announced shortly.

The winner of the Young Freight Forwarder Award will receive a cheque for £1,000 and be nominated as the UK candidate for the Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award 2012.

More than 450 people including BIFA Members and their guests are expected to attend. The luncheon will provide a valuable opportunity for attendees to acknowledge the winners as well as networking with key figures from within the industry.

Comments Mr Quantrill: “Since we established these awards 24 years ago, I am pleased that we have never been let down by our Members. Improvements in the standard of entries received can be seen every year. As always, the quality of the entrants who are aspiring to be recognised as the best in the industry are an inspiration. This aspiration continues to drive standards to improve each year. That is why we are looking forward to another successful competition with a large number of entries.”
