Catasauqua's Bridgeway Academy Valedictorian Receives Laurels and Heads to College - at Age 14

Catasauqua, PA, June 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- With a vocabulary as extensive as Bridgeway Academy Valedictorian Manisha Verma’s, there is one small word glaringly absent in her own personal dictionary: can’t. The Texas teenager recently traveled to Catasauqua, Pennsylvania to receive her degree and accept the honor of class Valedictorian at the distinguished Bridgeway Academy.

Although a bit different from a traditional graduation, namely because the students don’t actually attend classes together, Manisha found the Bridgeway’s ceremony “to be very positive and an excellent way to form new connections.”

Bridgeway is quickly gaining notoriety for producing some amazing scholars and athletes as famed as Elizabeth “Ebee” Price, who has recently qualified for the Olympic Trials in gymnastics later this month – all of whom have participated in quality home and cyber classroom curriculums.

Two years ago, Manisha Verma chose to exit the traditional school system and embark upon the path of schooling at home, feeling it would better suit her educational needs. “To me, homeschooling actually feels more disciplined than traditional school… you are just that much more focused on your work with less distraction or waste of time,” said Manisha in a recent interview.

At the tender age of 14, not only did Manisha receive the achievement of being named class Valedictorian, she is now enrolled in college at Saint Edwards University in Austin, Texas. She is pursuing a pre-law education, with double majors in political science and communications, with a minor in journalism. Tall order perhaps? Not for Manisha, who has learned the secret that many youngsters take years to acquire – success is gained through organization and focus.

When asked what advice to give other young people, Manisha replied, “If you have an inclination at an early age – don’t let it go. It really does mean something. It gives you focus. And with homeschooling, it is much easier to zoom in on these areas of interest and in that way truly motivate yourself forward to bigger and better things.” Manisha has also achieved the title of Reigning Queen at the United American pageant with a platform of mission work, by raising money and travelling to India to donate her collections to blind children.

Manisha’s younger brother Akshay is currently pursuing his education through homeschooling as well, and she enjoys watching him follow in her footsteps.
