Center for Autism and Related Disorders to Offer Free Training to Parents in ABA-Based Therapy with Free Subscriptions to CARD eLearning™

Each attendee of the Center for Autism and Related Disorders’ (CARD) Massachusetts Open House on June 30 in Plymouth will receive a free subscription to CARD eLearning™, an online training tool that teaches how to use the principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to increase wanted behaviors and decrease challenging behaviors in children with autism and related disorders.

Plymouth, MA, June 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- The CARD Massachusetts Open House will be held at CARD's Massachusetts treatment center, located at 118 Long Pond Road, Suite 205, in Plymouth, on Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Families will have the opportunity to meet the CARD team, tour the facility, review the state-of-the-art CARD curriculum, and enjoy refreshments and child-friendly activities.

The CARD eLearning™ program is a 40-hour online training course designed to facilitate effective intervention for children with autism and related disorders by equipping users with foundational knowledge in applied behavior analysis. CARD eLearning™ consists of a curriculum made up of nine video-based training modules which feature online note taking, quizzes, a final exam and certificate of course completion. With the technology of CARD eLearning™, parents and caregivers have a tool to help them contribute to a child’s recovery.

“CARD eLearning™ instructs parents and caregivers on research-proven techniques for teaching children with autism,” says CARD Massachusetts’ Clinical Manager Ben Craighead, M.Ed, BCBA. “The program allows individuals to learn from the comfort of home and apply these techniques to every-day interactions.”

As the rate of children diagnosed with autism increases, CARD recognizes the need for intensive therapy in all aspects of a child’s life. CARD eLearning™ is based on over 40 years of research on ABA as an effective treatment for autism and includes real-life video footage of therapists using techniques with children.

CARD eLearning™ works as an essential companion to the Skills™ program by providing foundational training in ABA and the use of ABA-based techniques with children with autism. CARD eLearning™ does not assume any prior knowledge and is suitable for anyone involved in a child’s treatment program, including parents, therapists and teachers. Skills™ is then available to design and direct an individualized treatment plan for children with autism and related disorders, while also tracking progress in that child’s development.

CARD is one of the world’s largest and most successful organizations effectively treating children with autism and related disorders using state-of-the-art therapy. CARD provides a variety of services based on the scientifically-proven ABA therapy. Services include center-based treatment, home therapy and supervision, parent training and school shadowing.
