For tablets, a slip-in design for instant access and for laptops, an added zipper allowing for vertical and horizontal usage.

Grass Valley, CA, June 20, 2012 --(PR.com)-- From a design practice based on user needs, GreenSmart, the global brand of eco-friendly bags and cases, introduces protective neoprene-like tablet and laptop sleeves that give consumers new usefulness choices in how they protect their mobile devices.

In designing protection for a Tablet/eReader like the Kindle and the iPad, GreenSmart’s thinking went differently than wallets and bookcover designs. It chose to look at the “slip-in” concept to create a glove-like fit that protects the device, more like a protected pocket. Using fleece lining for scratch protection and Neogreene for bump protection, the ability for a consumer to grab a tablet, slip it out and turn it on takes only moments. Exactly the result designed into the concept.

There are two designs of the slip-in sleeve; the Shapo has a sporty front side with symmetrical cut-in panels for visual appeal, while the Quokka has an outer pocket arched across the front which can be used to store a stylus or cords. Both products have a conveniently placed finger loop so that the sleeve is easier to grab when it’s in the bottom of a purse or tote. Both the Shapo and the Quokka come in 7” and 10” versions which fit Kindle Fire, Nook Color, Galaxy Tab, iPad 2/3 including iPads with a Smart Cover. The stretchy Neogreene also offers the right amount of cushion and stretch to accommodate many other brands of tablets as well.

Borrowing from the same visual look for the Tablet Shapo and Quokka, GreenSmart changed the access perspective for traditional laptop usage. In designing the Netbook and MacBook 13 laptop sleeves, designers chose to address a growing trend to using sleeves inside other bags.

GreenSmart recognized that many consumers put sleeves in backpacks or vertically oriented bags and could utilize a short side opening, but, not at the expense of the long side opening. As a result, these two styles offer both vertical and horizontal access by cleverly adding more zipper and a second zipper pull so that the sleeve can be loaded from the top or from the side. Perfect for leaving a sleeve in a backpack, messenger or tote, unzipping and pulling out the laptop.

Retail prices for the Shapo and Quokka slip-in tablet sleeves are $19.95 to $27.95 depending on size. Netbook and MacBook 13 Laptop sleeves are $27.95 to $34.95. You’ll find these products at the Company website www.GreenSmart.biz.

Neogreene is the proprietary material that GreenSmart has created to be an eco-friendly version of neoprene. Neogreene has the performance attributes of neoprene, without the toxins and VOCs. It also uses 25% less energy to produce and 25% less petroleum. “The consumer still expects neoprene in many applications,” pointed out Tom Larsen, President of GreenSmart, “so to make progress toward a GreenSmart planet, we must mimic Neoprene or we won’t get the consumer to buy the product. Neogreene meets that standard by being substantially less toxic to the planet and safer for factory workers and consumers at home.
GreenSmart, based in Grass Valley, CA, has been making bags and accessories since 1995. Under the name Shoreline, they initially made the products by the same methods as other suppliers, switching to eco-conscious materials in 2006 and introducing Neogreene in 2009. Their laptop bags, briefcases, and other items are sold nationwide through college bookstores, luggage and specialty stores, as well as at numerous e-tailers online.”
